הֶעֱלָה • ‎(he'elá) ‎(hif'il construction) (transitive)

1. to raise, lift
   • Genesis 37:28, with translation of the King James Version:

     וַיִּמְשְׁכוּ וַיַּעֲלוּ אֶת יוֹסֵף מִן הַבּוֹר‎

     vayimsh'chú vaya'alú et yoséf min habór

     and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit

2. to bring from a low place to a high place
   • Genesis 46:4, with translation of the King James Version:

     אָנֹכִי אֵרֵד עִמְּךָ מִצְרַיְמָה וְאָנֹכִי אַעַלְךָ גַם עָלֹה‎

     anochí eréd im'chá mitsráyma v'anochí a'alchá gam aló
