Suffix

しまう ‎(romaji -shimau, historical hiragana しまふ)

Appended to the Conjunctive (-te form) of a verb:

1. (verb) is, or was (with conjugation), done completely
2. (verb) happens, or happened, unexpectedly

   彼女は大阪に行ってしまいました.

   Kanojo wa Osaka ni itte shimaimashita.

   She just (up and went) to Osaka.

3. (verb) is done with difficulty
4. (verb) happens, or is done with regret afterwards

   あなたは笑われてしまうでしょう。

   Anata wa warawarete shimau deshou.

   You will be laughed at (and you won't like it).
