An offense against purity of style or language; any form of speech contrary to the pure idioms of a particular language.

2.

Ignorance of arts; want of learning.

3.

Rudeness of manners; savagism; incivility; ferociousness; a savage state of society.

4.

Brutality; cruelty; barbarity. [In this sense little used, being superseded by barbarity.]
