Etymology
Considered a loan from Ancient Greekἑβδομάς(hebdomás) via Latinhebdomas, although this remains doubtful due to the unexplained loss of the syllable containing -ma-. [1]. More probably from Proto-Albanian*avā, from Proto-Indo-European*h₂eyu-(“vital force”). Close to Latin aevum, Sanskrit आयु(āyu), Ancient Greek αἰές(aiés, “always”) (see also amshoj).
