From Latin metaphysica, from Byzantine Greek μεταφυσικά ‎(metaphusiká), from the title of the collection by Aristotle μετὰ τὰ φυσικά ‎(metà tà phusiká), a collection that comes after (μετά ‎(metá)) Aristotle's collection entitled τὰ φυσικά ‎(tà phusiká), from φυσικός ‎(phusikós, “natural”).
