savestate ‎(plural savestates)

1. (computing, especially in the emulation of video games) A file that contains an emulator or virtualizer's state at the moment it was saved to disk. Popular in console emulation, the file contains the contents of the memory, registers and other pertinent data that allows the user to resume the application from the moment the file was created.
