1. (Lojban grammar) A word acting like a predicate, which is immediately preceded by one sumti ‎(“argument”), x₁, and usually followed by one or more sumti ‎(“arguments”): x₂, x_3, ... up to no further than x₅. It is analogous to a verb in natural languages.

   A selbri together with its associated sumti (if any) forms a bridi. A selbri without any sumti is called an observative bridi.
