  1. (rare, only in reference to the diacritic’s historical use in Czech, superseded by the háček) A dot diacritic (used to mark consonantal palatalisation).
    • 1977, Folia Slavica I–II, page 82:
      Unsystematic use of diacritics (the háček (ˇ), čárka (´), tečka (˙)) marks the Strahov copy…as no earlier than mid-15th century.
