1. Armenian abbreviation mark. It was placed on top of the part of the word to indicate that it was abbreviated. Called պատիվ ‎(pativ) in Armenian.

Usage notes

• Not used in modern Armenian.
• The sign should be placed on top of a letter, but most current fonts do not do that: they show it following a letter, e.g. Ած՟ ‎(Ac.).
• The most common abbreviations were:

  Ած՟ ‎(Ac.) = Աստուած ‎(Astuac)

  Այ՟ ‎(Ay.) = Աստուածոյ ‎(Astuacoy)

  յԱյ՟ ‎(yAy.) = յԱստուածոյ ‎(yAstuacoy)

  Ավ՟ ‎(Av.) = Աստուածով ‎(Astuacov)

  ամ՟ ‎(am.) = ամենայն ‎(amenayn)

  պտ՟ ‎(pt.) = պատասխանի ‎(patasxani)

  սբ՟ ‎(sb.) = սուրբ ‎(surb)

  -ութի՟ ‎(-utʿi.) = -ութիւն ‎(-utʿiwn), -ութե՟ ‎(-utʿe.) = -ութեան ‎(-utʿean), -ութէ՟ ‎(-utʿē.) = -ութենէ ‎(-utʿenē)
