From Proto-Slavic *kъrzьno. Cognate with Russian корзно (korzno, fur coat), dialectal Bulgarian кръзна (krǎzna, grime on the skin), Serbo-Croatian крзно/krzno. The Slavic word was loaned from an Eastern language, compare Ossetian кæрц (kærc, fur coat). German Kürschner (furrier) is of Slavic origin.
