From Proto-Albanian *leitšja, from Proto-Indo-European *ley- (to pour). Cognate with Latin libare (to pour, to libate), Old Church Slavonic лити (liti, to pour), Gothic 𐌻𐌴𐌹𐌸𐌿 (leiþu, fruit wine).
