- sirsnīgi smaidīt ― to smile sincerely, warmly
- mīļi smaidīt ― to smile kindly
- smaidīt aiz laimes ― to smile with happiness
- smaidīt draugam ― to smile to a friend
- smaidīt caur asarām ― to smile through tears (i.e., while crying)
