Akin to Manichaean Middle Persian mwrwʾryd (morwārīd), Pazend 𐬨𐬏𐬭𐬀𐬎𐬎𐬁𐬭𐬍𐬝 (mūravārīt̰), Manichaean Parthian mwrgʾryd (morγārīd) (from earlier *margārīt), Sogdian mrγʾrt(h) (marγārt, marγārit), Pashto مرغلره (murghalara), Khotanese [script needed] pl (mrāhe, “pearl”), Central Kurdish مرواری (mirwarî). Possibly related to Sanskrit मञ्जरी (mañjarī).
