Paprika
Paprika
German
Noun
Paprika m, f (genitive Paprika or Paprikas, plural Paprika or Paprikas)
- (chiefly masculine) paprika (spice)
- (chiefly feminine) bell pepper
Usage notes
- The genitive is (der) Paprika in feminine use, and (des) Paprika or (des) Paprikas in masculine use.
- The plural is most often unchanged Paprika when preceded by an article, determiner, or numeral, and most often Paprikas when standing alone. This distinction is just a tendency, however.

Usage notes
The fruit, and the spice made of spicy varieties of Capsicum annuum as well as of other Capsicum species are called chili or chilipippuri in Finnish. The spice may also be called chilijauhe. There's no clear line of distinction between paprika and chili. Also the size of the fruit counts. The large varieties are often called paprika even if they are quite hot.
