nerātns (def. nerātnais, comp. nerātnāks, sup. visnerātnākais; adv. nerātni)

1. (of people, especially children) naughty, mischievous, playful (who misbehaves, does not obey; who jokes, plays pranks; who is constantly moving, making noise)

   nerātni bērni‎ ― naughty, mischievous children

   gribas atkal kā zēnam man skriet; gribas draiskuļot, nerātnam būt...‎ ― the desire (to be) again like a boy is coming (lit. running) to me; the desire to play pranks, to be naughty...

   Matilde atkal iesita kādam puisim pa nerātnajiem pirkstiem, kas mēģināja iekniebt viņai mīkstajos sānos‎ ― Matilde again hit some young man on (his) naughty fingers, who were trying to pinch her on (her) soft side

3. naughty, obscene (suggesting sexual thoughts, practices)

   nerātnas anekdotes, dziesmas‎ ― naughty, obscene jokes, songs

   kā zināms no nerātnajām dainām, senlatviešu puišiem bijusi paraža pa vakariem iet meitās‎ ― as is known from naughty folk songs, the ancient Latvian young men had the custom of going to the girls at night
