Usage notes

This form of the colon is derived from the Latin colon and encoded identically in Unicode. It is used in approximately the same manner as the English mark (See Appendix:Greek punctuation).

It should be distinguished from the earlier two dot punctuation ⟨⁚⟩, which served as a full stop.
