- A brownish-black pill used in traditional Chinese medicine "to soothe the depressed liver and alleviate mental depression, to regulate the stomach function, and to relieve pain in the treatment of distension and fullness in the hypochondriac region, anorexia, belching, vomiting, epigastric pain and irregular bowel movements".
