1. to kill (to put (a living being) to death, to cause it to die, to be the cause of its death)

   putniņus nedomāju nāvēt‎ ― I do not think (= intend) to kill the little birds

   es redzēju, kā fašisti koncentrācijas nometnē nāvēja cilvēkus visādiem līdzekļiem un paņēmieniem‎ ― I saw that they killed people in fascist concentration camps with all kinds of means and methods
