1. to bear, to give birth, to beget

   وُلِدْتُ فِي مَدِينَة كَبِيرَة. (passive voice)

   wulidtu fi madīna kabīra.

   I was born in a big city.

   • Qur'an 112:3

     لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ‎

     lam yalid walam yūlad

     He neither begets nor is born,
