hringja (weak conjugation: hringdi – hringt)

1. (with dative) to phone, to call almost always used with í (then followed by accusative)
   • Ég hringi í þig þegar ég er búinn með matinn.

     (lit. I'll call you when I am done with the food.)

     I'll call you when I've finished eating.

2. (with dative) to ring (a doorbell)
   • Ætlar þú að hringja (dyra)bjöllunni.

     Shall you ring the (door)bell?
