στης • ‎(stis)

1. (rare, poetic) Contraction of σε της ‎(se tis, “to (of) the”).

   Πήγαμε στης κυράς Ελένης. (We went to Mrs Eleni's (house/restaurant/shop, etc))

   Στης πικροδάφνης τον ανθό (In the blossom of the oleander song title)

Usage notes

This contraction is somewhat rare and is only ever used poetically (and hence, lyrically, as in the above song title) or in literature. Most times, the sentence order is merely changed around to make it sound less unusual:

Πήγαμε στης κυράς Ελένης.     Πήγαμε στο σπίτι/μαγαζί/εστιατόριο της κυράς Ελένης.

Στης πικροδάφνης τον ανθό     Στον ανθό της πικροδάφνης.
